Project Done Client signed of. a few more things he wants siad he might contacted me after exams to see about them. the main problem was the basic storing and retreaving of the data now thats done any thing aditional should be quite easy.

The project is pretty much done a few small things to fix up, changing the words on some buttons a bit of formatting. then just gotta compile it and make an exe file and i;m done.
a few extra requirements are in the code but not implemented as it has no gui. if i get board might put it in. probably wont.

Going well. few things i wanna do. fix up the graph a bit more and redo the error messages to give more detail what is wrong.
Might work on the bullish and bearish candel recognistion. should only take an hour to add but that is the lowest prioity as it's not a core functionality.

I wasnt feeling well last week plus had a few unexpected things on the weekend so didnt get as much work on it as i wanted.

feeling better now spent most of the day on the project and will spend most of 2morrow on it. there is a bug (or several) still in it stuffing up the report generations, trying to find out whats causeing it is very confusing especially with all the loops i have, will hopefully find it 2morrow and have it working well for the meeting on Monday.
Trying to work out the graph is proving to be harder then expected though it's getting there. the library is free but the instructions on how to use it costs over 100. should look for a torrent of the manual or something.

Program basicly done just gotta get the graph funtion going. also the report is not generating correctly recordes too may trades then it should will need to look into that. not fun there is about 7 loops and if statements going to be hard to pinpoit the problem. appart from that just gotta work on valadating the input. atm it crashes if u type in a wring dat letter where a number should be etc.

should finish it nextweek.

The graph libaries look good and can do exactly what i was as it's shown is a demo but inorder to get access to the manuel and sample code they want me to pay. libary free instrutions on how to use are not. have to see if i can find a leaked copy or another tutorial.


Few assignments due for other subjects but should be able to make time

Most of the back end is done it appears to be working. but as there i no gui yet i cant realy test it well as i have to hard code in test values. will start work on the gui next week and have a alpha ready so the rest of the group can start on the documentation. once that is dont just got bug fixing and exception handling. cuz atm it's very temperamental one wrong letter and it will crash so will need to work on that.

things are going well. procrastinating a bit but should be ok.

didnt do much this week went to a Lan was stuff the weekend and monday because of it. though cuz i was a bit ahead i'm only a tiny bit behind now, should be ok. got 2 other assignmets this week so probably fall a bit more behind will try and make it up this weekend.
I have delt with the diffrent CSV files by making a method that will parse a diffrent one change it's format to the right one then import it. not the most elegant or efficant way to do it but it works. if i have excess(unlikly) time later i might do it properly thoough this bandaid solution should work fine.
been looking at the Jfreechart files now in more detail looks like it hasd alot of nice fetures that should be easy to implemet which will make the client able to sort through the data better. though it is hard to navaigate the libary and though the class files are free the documentation costs 60+$ so i'm a try and find a warez of it to help me get the charts working nice.

Sorry about not blogging last week things were a bit hectic (2 asignments, why must business make them so early ) and because i was ahead on the IT project i put it on the back burner and forgot to blog. not much has been done so far going to try and get the rule classes finished 2 day if i can. will be able to make the tute this week thanks to a few changes in my time table so will be able to catch up with whats going on.

Alex has been asking for some help with a document on testing. i'm not really sure what document he is writing or what he needs he is asking me about how i unit test as i'm doing that as i go along, I'm not really sure how to answer him. i just run the method with test data and check i get the right output. anyway will clear this up 2morrow.

Now back to programing.

To Tell you what i did this week i'll just paste my report to my group i just did:
Just telling you guys what i have done coding is coming along on schedule. I have uploaded it to Yahoo if you wanna take a look. ATM all i have got it to do is read a CSV file store the data in the data structure i designed and then re display the data back.

Also is a bit temperamental atm will work on fixing that. may not work for you as i have hard coded the csv location in it atm (just to test) might have to change it in the CurrencyPair class.

It might be a bit hard to follow as there are alot of loops and passing of data around the classes.

Next week i doubt i'll be able to make though after that i should be able to come again. i'll keep you posted.

As for the current Group drama Must say Yang hasn't been pulling his weight. His job is probably the simplest here. he is just required to make sure all documents have correct fonts layout grammar and spelling though he inst even doing something as simple as making sure the right font is used.
Not really sure what to do it's Michel thats dealing with him and picking up his slack so I'll probably just support his decision. we have told him a few times and given him quite a few chances and it never seems he does that much to the documents.

As for Alex he seems to try unlike Yang. His work is normally of a low standard though may be because English is his 2nd language so writing reports might be hard for him.

As for giving him a coding job i just don't have much faith in his coding abilities i talked to him a bit about programing and he didn't seem to follow. and Yang wasn't sure how to make a Hyper link on a web page so that speaks about his programing skills. especially since we are using Java and caufield don't real teach it i doubt they would be much help and i've done a programing assignment b4 with some1 without a clue there code was so buggy didn't work and was so unnecessarily complex i wasted more time fixing it up then it would of taken me to rewrite it. This is why i'm warry of giving them anything.

Guess I'll see what happens maybe give them the GUI design and placing all the elements though i doubt they would be able to do that. I'll discuss this with every1 after the Yang and Alex problem has been addressed.

This week just did more programing on the project. Got the data classes done, haven't tested them properly as inputing the daya is hard to do at this point. will continue work on it on fridays mainly as that is a day i can dedicate alot of time to it. the way i prefer to program is in large chunks, if i start and stop alot i tends to start making alot of mistakes. any way no major problems.

Not sure how the rest of the things are going atm as i havent been in contact with any1. i e-mailed them a report on what i have done. Michel normal posts a weekly update what has been done what needs to be done so i should know more once he mails that.

back after the break. didnt do much on the project while on break. i started writing the classes for the application but dont have any implementation done. been trying to get my time table working this subject clashs with 2 accounting subjects. might see about skipping my IE secdualed classes will see what my grp says about it.

Firstly i did blog last week. take a look you will see that for the past 5 weeks i have bloged on the tuesday every week. you sheet said nonthing new just wanna clear that up.

This week just continued working on the class diagram. wont be a 100% complete diagram as the screen layout havent been complete there is no swing compnets in the digram. i will have to add them later. thoguh is is accurate for the backend, a few this will most likly change. like the generate report funtion is a massive operation and i will most likely split it up in to multiple smaller operations but atm i cannot predict how i will split it up.

It has been a while scince i have made a sequence diagram so i'm not sure if i got it right. i wanted to show my team mates in the tute but but as the VP program on the lab comps is a eailer version to the one i use at home i couldn't open it. thoguh i doubt they would be able to help me any way. normaly when i make a sequence diagram i write the code and use a program to generate a sequence diagram from the code.

also i gotta do a small write up for my section will do this to night. alex did ok in his section. he got one of the GUIs wrong and didnt go in to enough detail in the last part. michel said he would fix it up, as alex didnt come to the tute we have no way to show him whats wrong and how to fix and it would be too hard over phone/email.

Should have it done by friday if we work hard on it.

This week i have been working mainly on the class diagram. been finding this quite hard as i normaly make the class diagram after i finish the program, getting hard to visulist what attributes i'll need and what methods i'll have. like in the gui i normaly have multipleb methods to set up the screen layout, this is not because it is needed but to make it easier to read/edit like 1 method sets up the buttons the other does the labels etc, and as i normaly workthis out on the fly wether i should split up a method i cannot model this correctly.

i have the basic of the clas diagram done just evry time i look at it i find new clases i want to add or methods i'll need. should be ok in a week once i have thought it through fully.

The interface design is goingb well alex is doing a good job of it had to help him a bit in the tute with it as he dosnt have the full picture yet. must say yang isn't doing much he was ment to be helping alex with the interface designs and didnt produce anything this week. I dont think alex and yang have a clear understanding of the project we are building, alex is getting a clearer veiw though and making an effort to uderstand and is doing some work, yang though dosnt appear to be doing anything nor does he seem to have a very good grasp on what we are doing.

This week i dint do much on the project. i did my part for the Func rec spec and left it to my group mates. i wanted to start on some of the design diagrams and stuff this week but but to many project, accounting in particular, i havent had time to do them, hope to start them this week though.

In other news we defeated mulgar this week. mainly due to the collapse of the guild NOS we were able to get alot of other skilled players in the guild which made it alot easier. took a few tries to get it, main problem to beginwith was the positioning of the dps always getting caught in mulgar's whirlwind and ding then later the tanks seemed to be ding alot as the hearers had to move and couldnt heal. got him down but it was close went thorugh about 13 tanks in the fight 2(thanks to Soulstones and rebirth) but we got him down. next week we hope to take out Guurl.

This week i only worked on the DFD. had some problems with the program on which we have the licence for on muso. the licence is only for the standard edition but the DFD module is only for the enterprise edition. so i had to sign up for a trial key used that to make the DFD but then the when you try and print/export it it covers the page with this is a trial. so i converted the DFD to a use case(lookes the same) then switched to the standard edition and use the monash key to export it.

I'm not sure if i made the dfd right i think i broke some of the rules on how it is ment to flow. will check with my group mates see if any of them know.

I'l plaining to start working on the use case diagrams soon i got a good image of it in my mind but most of the time when i write out how i envision a program there are alot of problems i didnt see so it would be best to start early. also should draw up some rough GUI designs so i can pass it off and have some1 else to a full design and hopefully program it.

This week i had to write up the propsed system section in the function req spec.
I made sure i had this job as i'll be the one having to design the specific system and main one programing it. and as it seems atm i'm the only one with a clear veiw on what the systm will do and how it will exactly operate. the other members know the basics but probably dont have a whole veiw of the system like i have.

Hoping for the system i can pass the gui design off on other members and consentrate on the middleware. i have also been ruffly working out the class diagram. i'm thinking on dividing up the infomation based on ticks(smallest time period) Hours, Days, Months, Years. this will make drilling down easier and allow me to store stats so i have the stats on each day stored and wont have to calculate it 100 times.

Thinking of starting to make a proper class diagram and other documentation needed for the programing. I fell that i cant leave this to the other members as they dont realy know how the system should work.

in other news been farming gold in WoW trying to get 5k g so when the next patch hits i'll be able to start the epic flight form quest. though this has proven to be more dificult then orginaly thought. as I'm a resto speced druid fighting one on one if very dificlut and takes a long time, i have desided that fishing would be the best way to make money but it's very slow and not big pay offs. need to find a farming buddy to do this properly.

Didn't do anything on the project at all this week.
Dint talk to any team memebrs, didnt write/edit any documentys. didnt reserch anything didnt even think about the project.

My guild did however attemp nightbane in karazan this week went ok the fear was a real probelm we wanted to take selmac out dwarf priest as a 4th healer would of healped. we did ok with only 3 though mana effcincy was ok, was a bit hetic during the flight stage but we handeled it ok. the second landing stage was too hard for use as we couldnt time the fears right as tremor totem was too un predicatble. hopefully we will have a fear ward next time it should make the fight go alot smoother.

Lets see I al so had an assignment due for my Accounting subject. wish i did it a year earlyier as now they changed the course and the first 7 weeks is all about Infomation system management so i have already covered everything in alot more detail. and it's hard staying awake during lectures as the slides and the lectures are the same lectures i heard in 1st week in IT subjects.
also frustrats me when he talking about databases and are saying things that are just wrong, though i CBF trying to correct him.

This week i did the initial Draft of the risk report.

We also meet with warickthis week, he helped better explain the system we had to create. right now i'm confident on what we need to make. basicly the system will have to sort through the past data and apply certian buying rules to it to see how they would of performed.

I have also started looking into public java libaries to help with the project. specficly libaries that can make graphs. i like the look of http://www.jfree.org/ as there libary can handle candle sticks which will be needed.

Meet client today. seems ok. the system seems like it will require a bit of work.

other team members seem a bit scared by it. i think it will be fine.

going to start work on the risk report soon.
